Mercedes-Benz Inadvertently Reveals CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake

There's no way of knowing if Mercedes-Benz planned to show the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake together with the rest of the stylish estate's range, but regardless of its intentions, a careful look at one of the promo videos revealed that what we were looking at wasn’t one of the regular models but the flagship AMG.
There's nothing official yet on the car from the Stuttgart-based automaker, but we do know for a fact that the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake will share its mechanical hardware with the saloon model.
This means power will come from a 5.5-liter bi-turbocharged V8 producing 530hp (537PS) at 5,500 rpm and 590 lb-ft (800Nm) from 2,000 to 4,500 rpm in standard trim with an optional Performance Package boosting these numbers to 556bhp (564PS) and 664 lb-ft (900Nm) respectively.
All that thrust will be channeled to the rear wheels through AMG’s seven-speed MCT gearbox.
Comparing the performance numbers of the sedan with the Shooting Brake, we see that in the 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint, the latter is between 0.6 seconds (CLS 350) and 0.1 seconds (CLS 500) slower than the former, depending on the engine.
Taking into consideration these numbers and knowing that the CLS 63 AMG Sedan with and without the Performance Package accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.3 and 4.4 seconds respectively, the Shooting Brake should be 0.1 to 0.2 seconds slower.
Completing the package will be an AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension that allows the driver to switch between three suspension modes of "Comfort", "Sport" and "Sport plus", along with a tweaked steering system and larger brakes.

The styling treatment for the AMG-badged Shooting Brake includes re-shaped front fenders that combine with a new front bumper housing wider LED light strips, side skirts, a slightly more prominent roof spoiler and a new rear bumper with a diffuser insert and quad tailpipes.
The design is complimented by a set of five-spoke alloy wheels that should be the same size (19-inches) as on the sedan.
Inside, the CLS 63 Shooting Brake gets carbon-fiber trims, sport seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel and unique graphics for the instrument panel gauges.
